Join the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for a free tour of Buxton Cemetery, led by one of our experienced volunteer tour guides.

MEETING POINT is by the Cross of Sacrifice, about 75 metres behind the main entrance on Ashbourne Road.

Buxton Cemetery contains 54 scattered burials of the First World War, 29 of them Canadian; a Canadian special orthopaedic hospital was at Buxton in 1917-19 and the town was No 1 Canadian Discharge Depot.
The cemetery also contains 22 Second World War burials, some of them made from the RAF station that was at Harpur Hill at this time.
The tour lasts approx. 60 mins and covers about 1200 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground. There is wheelchair access.
Parking is available nearby. There are no on-site facilities or toilets available. Please bring water if required.
Please come dressed for the weather and wear suitable foowear.
Only assistance dogs are allowed in the cemetery.
