The High Peak Walking Festival Women Only event will take place on 23 September 2026 at Combs Reservoir Car Park near Buxton. This easy walk offers stunning 360 views from the summit of Eccles Pike and is suitable for any level of fitness.
Located just outside of the Peak District, Eccles Pike enjoys stunning 360 views from the summit. An easy walk for any level of fitness.
Join me for a beautiful walk to one of the High Peak's finest viewpoints as part of the High Peak Walking Festival.
Don't let Eccles Pike's modest height fool you. At just 370m above sea level, this little hill packs a serious punch when it comes to views.
Starting from Combs Reservoir, we'll cross the golf course before beginning a steady climb to the summit. As we gain height, the views just keep getting better, giving us the perfect excuse to stop, catch our breath and admire the scenery along the way.
At the top, we'll be rewarded with one of the best panoramas in the High Peak. On a clear day we'll be able to pick out Kinder Scout, Chinley Churn, South Head and Mount Famine, while the dramatic gritstone edges rising above Combs Reservoir stretch out in the opposite direction. We'll spend some time at the summit identifying the surrounding hills using the topograph and chatting about the landscape that makes this corner of the Peak District so special.
After soaking up the views, we'll make our way back down, enjoying a completely different perspective as we descend. It's one of those walks where the scenery just keeps on giving.
This is a relatively short walk with gentle, steady climbs, making it suitable for most walkers with a reasonable level of fitness. Please note there are a couple of stiles along the route, and the descent from Eccles Pike is fairly steep in places.
Whether you're looking to discover a new corner of the High Peak, meet like-minded women who love the outdoors, or simply spend a few hours enjoying fresh air and spectacular scenery, I'd love for you to join us.
