Dutty Moonshine Big Band present: Second Distillation. For the last eleven years, Dutty Moonshine Big Band have carved their own path through the UK music scene. Blending electronic production, live instrumentation, Jazz, Hip Hop, Bass Music and big-band energy; the band have built a fiercely loyal following while operating almost entirely outside the traditional music industry system. What started as an experiment in 2015 has evolved into sold-out headline tours, major festival appearances, two albums charting in multiple UK charts, and one of the most distinctive live shows in the country, if not the world. “Moonshine” has always been referring to music in the band’s parody worlds they build in song form and the tour title draws inspiration from the Moonshine process itself. The first distillation creates something raw, exciting and full of potential. The second distillation takes everything learned and transforms it into something cleaner. Something stronger. Something way more powerful than ever before. That philosophy sits at the heart of this new era for the band. Every lesson learnt from the road. Every sold out venue. Every triumph, setback and reinvention has been fed back into the process and examined. The result? The Second Distillation will be the most ambitious chapter in the band’s history. Second Distillation will see Dutty Moonshine Big Band stepping into their biggest headline venues to date, armed with an upgraded live production, brand new music and a renewed determination to push the boundaries even further than what an independent band can hope to achieve. SUPPORT Joining the Big Band for every date on the tour will be special guests Tankus (formerly Tankus the Henge). A firm favourite of Dutty Moonshine’s after sharing stages with them for 15 years. Tankus are a deeply theatrical endeavour, akin to shows by Tom Waits or the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, but with a modern twist, reminiscent of the raw power of The Fat White Family or Cage The Elephant, inviting people into a counter cultural realm.
