Join Ros for a lively discussion of ***The White Priory Murders*** from classic American crime writer John Dickson Carr (writing as Carter Dickson). In a festive-themed mystery, readers are treated to a feast of the author’s trademark twists, beguiling false answers and one of the most ingenious solutions in the history of the genre. James Bennett has been invited to stay at White Priory for Christmas among the retinue of the glamorous Hollywood actress Marcia Tait. Her producer, her lover, the playwright for her next hit and her agent are all here, soon to become so many suspects when Tait is found murdered on a cold December morning in the lakeside pavilion. But how did the murderer get in and out of the pavilion without leaving a trace? We will meet in the Snug at the Castle Inn on Castle Hill at 7pm in the hour before IVC Pub night - feel free to stay on for drinks afterwards! The Castle is a quaint traditional pub offering a full range of drinks, including real ales and pub food. Please bring along £1 (or £12 for the year) as a contribution to Meetup fees - this £1 is only payable by non-fully-paid members of IVC (and can be reclaimed if you decide to join the CambsIVC membership group). Parking is free in the Shire Hall car park from 7pm. Books to look forward to in the coming months: * Actually, I'm a Murderer by Terry Deary * A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters
