Sorochynskyi Fair

Welcome to Sorochynskyi Fair – Ukrainian Cultural Festival in Cambridge – a vibrant celebration of Ukrainian culture, traditions, creativity and community.

Inspired by Ukraine’s famous Sorochynskyi Fair, the festival brings its distinctive atmosphere to the heart of Cambridge through Ukrainian music, song and dance, colourful traditional dress, folk crafts, creative workshops, delicious food, humour, fairground characters and entertainment for all the family.

For generations, Sorochynskyi Fair has been a place where people come together to trade, create, perform, celebrate and socialise. For one special day, we hope to recreate some of that lively spirit at Christ’s Pieces, filling the park with Ukrainian music, colour, traditional flavours, craftsmanship and warm hospitality.

💙💛 A Festival with a Charitable Purpose

Sorochynskyi Fair – Ukrainian Cultural Festival in Cambridge is a charity event created by the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB) – London Branch.

Our ambition is for the festival to be more than a celebration of Ukrainian culture. We want it to create meaningful support for people whose lives have been affected by the war.

Funds raised through the event will support Ukrainian SOS Children and contribute towards rehabilitation support for people affected by the war in Ukraine.

By joining us, visitors become part of a wider community effort – helping people who need care, recovery and support as they rebuild their lives.

Through culture, we hope to bring the Ukrainian and wider Cambridge communities together, introduce more people to Ukraine and turn a day of celebration into meaningful charitable action.

🎶 Ukrainian Music, Dance and Live Performance

A varied programme of music and cultural performances will run throughout the day, showcasing both traditional and contemporary Ukrainian creativity.

Visitors can enjoy Ukrainian dance and vocal ensembles, live bands, solo performers, young musicians and children’s creative groups.

The programme will bring together Ukrainian folk and contemporary songs, traditional and modern dance, and the distinctive sound of the bandura – one of the most recognisable symbols of Ukrainian musical culture.

Young performers will also have an important place on the stage, showing how Ukrainian culture continues to live, evolve and pass from one generation to the next.

Expect music, singing, dance, colourful costumes, cultural performances and plenty of surprises throughout the day.

🎭 The Spirit of a Traditional Sorochynskyi Fair

We want visitors not simply to watch a programme, but to experience the atmosphere of a Ukrainian fair.

Around the festival you may encounter colourful characters inspired by the traditional Sorochynskyi Fair. They will mingle with visitors, joke, chat and create small theatrical moments, bringing the spirit of Ukrainian fairground life to Cambridge.

So do not be surprised if you overhear an amusing conversation among the stalls, meet an unexpected character or suddenly find yourself part of a little improvised scene.

🎨 Workshops and Creativity

Sorochynskyi Fair is not only something to watch – it is something to take part in.

One of the creative activities will be a special angel-making workshop, giving visitors the opportunity to make something themselves and take home a personal reminder of the day.

There will also be other creative and cultural activities for children and adults throughout the festival.

Ukrainian culture is not only found in music and traditions – it is also in the aromas of home cooking, the dishes shared with family and friends, and the pleasure of welcoming guests.
