Tutored life drawing classes will run at Cambridge Junction in Cambridge from September 21, 2026. Classes begin every Monday evening with a fee of £25.00.
Brand new tutored life drawing classes are coming to Cambridge this September at the Junction every Monday evening.
My name is David Bennison (BA Illustration, Cambridge School of Art), and I am the founder and tutor of Cambridge Figure Drawing. I am absolutely thrilled to announce our brand-new tutored life drawing classes starting on September 21st, 2026, in the wonderful J3 building at the Cambridge Junction (Clifton Road, Cambridge CB1 7EG)—a space perfectly suited for creatives where all levels of ability are welcome in a friendly and relaxed environment.
The classes will run on a weekly basis every Monday until October Half-term and then resume again until Christmas.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN CLASS
What does a typical evening at Cambridge Figure Drawing look like?
I work with fantastic, highly professional models, ensuring you get to draw a fresh face and form every single week.
You will be working from direct observation, studying the living, naked human form.
• The Warm-Up: We kick off the night with quick, fun warm-up poses to get your artistic energy flowing.
• The Demonstration: I will provide a live drawing demonstration tailored specifically to the week's theme.
• The worksheet handout: You will receive a worksheet that covers everything taught in the lesson. These weekly worksheets will prove invaluable as you recap and build your skills week on week.
• Guided Practice: We then move into longer poses. This is where you will reinforce the new techniques from the demonstration through practical study, while I offer individual support and constructive feedback.
• The Half-Time Break: Right in the middle of the session, we take a quick breather. It is the perfect opportunity for you and our model to stretch, grab a drink, and chat in a wonderfully social, relaxed space.
• The Final Pose: We wrap up the evening with our longest pose of the night. This gives me a second chance to review your progress and provide tailored, individual feedback.
Every class is structured to be completely supportive and stress-free. Whether you are picking up a pencil for the very first time, studying A-Level art or are an experienced artist looking to refine your skills, you will receive plenty of guidance and a weekly lesson task sheet to help consolidate your learning in your own time. Here is a summary of what you can expect each week:
• Weekly demonstrations based on a specific class topic.
• Friendly, one-to-one feedback to help build your confidence at your own pace
.• Easy-to-follow lesson sheets to support your practice outside of class.
.• A relaxed, encouraging environment to experiment and grow.
• A diverse rotation of highly professional models.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
Drawing boards, charcoal and newsprint will be provided. You may wish to bring some A3/A2 cartridge paper of your choice, or you may prefer to work in a sketchbook. You may wish to bring additional drawing materials such as a range of pencils or charcoal pencils and an eraser. You may also wish to bring preferred media of your choice, such as oil pastels.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Tutored classes are drop-in and cost £25 per 2-hour session. Spaces are limited to ensure everyone gets plenty of individual, tailored feedback, so booking is essential.

I look forward to meeting and teaching you.
