Celebrate the official opening of the Clocktower Gallery X UCA with an artist talk, tour and book launch by artist Eszter Novák.
You're invited to the official opening of the Clocktower Gallery X UCA - a new chapter for one of Canterbury's most striking historic spaces, prominently located at the top of the iconic high street.
The evening celebrates the gallery's current exhibition, Obscurities Overheard, by artist, illustrator and graphic designer Eszter Novák. Featuring five tunnel-book illustrations, the installation explores some of the strangest, most obscure words in the English language through humour, storytelling and beautifully detailed linework - each piece paired with definitions, synonyms and etymology in Eszter's playful yet academic style, and connected to Canterbury's literary heritage and the language of Christopher Marlowe.
The evening also marks the launch of Eszter's illustrated dictionary, Obscurities — copies will be available to buy and have signed on the night.
