Making the Creative Industries Accessible: Disability Equality Training

About this event

How can we make the creative industries more accessible and inclusive for Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people?

This practical three-hour session will give you the knowledge and tools to create more inclusive working environments. Using the social model of disability as our starting point, we'll explore disability equality legislation, inclusive language and approaches, and how to recognise and remove the barriers that exclude disabled people.

We'll look at the support and resources available to Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent creatives - including freelancers - and those employing or commissioning them. We'll also explore the importance of allyship and the practical role everyone can play in improving access.

You'll leave with useful resources and a clear action plan for making positive, achievable changes in your organisation or working practice.

This training is relevant to organisations and individual creatives alike.

What we'll cover:

The Equality Act and disability equality legislation

Language and approach - narratives around disability, rights and inclusion

Identifying and breaking down the barriers to accessibility

Support available for Deaf and disabled people, and those employing or commissioning them - including freelancers, and key industry organisations

Allyship, and the practical role everyone can play
