About This Event

The People's Assembly on AI and Data Centres will take place at the Trinity Centre in Cardiff on 31 October 2026. This event aims to gather community voices to discuss the future of AI and data centres.

Let's bring people together, make our voices heard and give our communities a real say in shaping the future of AI!

PEOPLE'S ASSEMBLY

We're organising Wales' first ever People's Assembly on AI, bringing communities together to explore two important questions:

1. How is Artificial Intelligence affecting your community and loved ones?

What does it mean for your work, daily life, hopes for the future and the people around you?

2. How do you feel about the AI data centre being built in your area?

What are your hopes and fears? What could it mean for your neighbours, the local environment, energy and water bills, jobs and the future you want for your community?

The idea is simple: decisions about AI shouldn’t be left to big company bosses and government ministers behind closed doors. Our future belongs to all of us! When everyday people have access to evidence, time to listen and space to think together, they can help find answers to the big questions facing society.

A UK-WIDE MOVEMENT

Assemble is convening community assemblies in towns and cities across the UK in late October and early November. Their findings will be taken to local decision-makers and feed into the first UK citizens' assembly on AI, planned for later in 2026.

ABOUT ASSEMBLE

Assemble was founded in 2024 to campaign for greater public participation in political decision-making through local community assemblies. These feed into the proposed House of the People, a permanent citizens' assembly made up of ordinary people selected by sortition, or random selection, much like jury service.

The longer-term vision is to replace the House of Lords with a House of the People, giving ordinary citizens a stronger voice in our democracy.
