A FREE FILM SCREENING & BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION

We’re wrapping up Black History Month with one last event, and we’re bringing it back to Butetown!

Join us for a FREE screening of Rocks (2019), followed by an evening of music, live performances, food and a chance to connect with the community.

ABOUT THE FILM

Rocks (2019) follows a teenage girl growing up in East London who suddenly finds herself having to look after her younger brother when their mum leaves home.

With the support of her friends, she tries to navigate school, family and everything life throws her way.

It’s a story about friendship, sisterhood, growing up and the importance of having people around you who show up when it matters.

We’ve spent this Black History Month bringing people together through Black British cinema, sharing stories, having conversations and celebrating our culture.

Now we’re closing our Young, Black & Bold season with a community celebration!

Here’s what to expect:

🎬 Film: A screening of Rocks (2019)

💃🏾 Live performances: Celebrating local creativity and talent.

🎶 Music: Good sounds throughout the evening.

🍲 Food: Food available to enjoy.

🎨 Activities: Something to get involved in while connecting with others.

Come for the film, stay for the community!

Whether you’ve been to one of our screenings before or this is your first time hearing about Watch Africa, we’d love to see you there.

Bring your friends, bring your family or come along and meet new people.
