About this event

AFJ Cardiff presents Sports & Groove: our Summer Social.

We’re bringing the AFJ community together outside of the studio for an afternoon of sports, games, Afro dance, food, music and good vibes in Bute Park.

This day is all about having fun, unwinding, connecting with others and spending quality time together as a community.

You do not need to be the best dancer or the most athletic person on the field. The activities will be friendly, relaxed and open to everyone.

Whether you regularly attend AFJ, have joined us for a workshop before, have been meaning to come along, or simply want to experience the community, you’re welcome to join us.

What to expect

Sports & GamesExpect friendly team games, challenges and a little healthy competition.

Afro DanceIt wouldn’t be AFJ without some dancing. Expect music, dance challenges and plenty of opportunities to move.

Food & RefreshmentsAFJ will be bringing some food and refreshments for everyone to enjoy, but we’d also love for you to bring along your own food, snacks or picnic favourites to add to the spread.

Think of it as a relaxed community picnic alongside all the activities.

Good Music & Good VibesCome ready to socialise, laugh, dance, meet new people and make some great memories with the community.

Meet at 1.30 PM

Please arrive at the meeting point for 1.30 PM so that we can head into the park together.

Bute Park, Cardiff

Meeting point:Bute Park entrance on Castle Street, Cardiff.

What to bring

Please come wearing comfortable clothing and trainers suitable for taking part in the activities.

We also recommend bringing:

Water

Your own food, snacks or something to add to the picnic

A picnic blanket if you have one

Sun cream if it’s sunny

Anything else you’d like for the picnic

Most importantly, good energy

Bring your friends

You do not have to already be part of AFJ to attend.

Bring your friends along, meet new people and come experience the AFJ community.

The more, the merrier.

FREE ENTRY

Registration is completely free, but please book a ticket through Eventbrite so that we can keep track of numbers and plan the activities appropriately.

If your plans change after registering, please cancel your ticket so that we have an accurate idea of attendance.

Weather

As this is an outdoor event, plans may be adjusted if the weather conditions make it unsuitable to go ahead.

Any important updates will be shared with registered attendees.
