Training workshop to build confidence supporting LGBTQ+ people with learning disabilities—practical tools, reflection & inclusive practice
This interactive and reflective training course is designed for professionals working across health, social care, education and community settings who support people with learning disabilities and/or LGBTQ+ identities.
The session explores how to provide inclusive, confident and person-centred support around identity, relationships and wellbeing.
Participants will develop a stronger understanding of LGBTQ+ identities, language and lived experiences, alongside the specific barriers and inequalities faced by people with learning disabilities who are also part of the LGBTQ+ community. Through guided discussion, practical activities and self-reflection, the course creates space to explore personal values, challenge assumptions and build confidence in navigating complex or sensitive situations.

Fflamingo CIC is a South Wales-based not-for-profit community interest company working at the intersection of disability, LGBTQ+ identity, performance, and community life. Our flagship programme, House of Deviant, has become a distinctive public-facing platform for learning-disabled LGBTQ+ performers. Building on this success, Fflamingo has developed a broader offering that includes entry-level participation, online access, artist development, training, and consultancy.
