About This Event

On 13 October 2026 at Cineworld in Cardiff, an event titled 'You've Been Hacked' will present a simulated cyberattack on the big screen. Attendees will observe the attack unfold live and learn practical methods to protect their business from similar incidents. This community-focused session is listed with free admission for those wishing to watch the demonstration. The programme features various performers leading the educational content before the public opening.

Watch a simulated cyberattack unfold on the big screen and learn how to protect your business before it happens for real.

You may know the theory of a cyberattack, but would you know what it actually looks like as it unfolds?

This unique event, hosted at Cineworld Cardiff, will bring the reality of a cyberattack to life on the big screen.

Join Stuart Steer of Steer IT Solutions and Jason Douglas of Dragon Defence Cyber Security Solutions as they take you through a simulated attack in real time. Watch what happens as systems are compromised, access is lost and pressure builds:

If your team was suddenly locked out of its systems, what would you do first?

How would you contact customers or members?

Could you access critical information?

Who would make the decisions?

How quickly could you respond if your usual communication channels were no longer available?

Supported by Cardiff University’s Cyber Innovation Hub, this is a unique opportunity to move beyond the theory and see how a cyber incident could actually affect the day-to-day running of an organisation.

You’ll have the chance to ask questions, gain practical advice from cyber security specialists, explore the vulnerabilities that could affect your own organisation and understand the steps you can take now to strengthen your resilience.

There will also be time to network with fellow business leaders and professionals, share experiences and make useful connections.

Whether you already have cyber security measures in place or are unsure where your vulnerabilities lie, this session is designed to get you thinking differently about how prepared your business really is, before you ever have to face the real thing.

Bios

Jason Douglas brings years of hands-on experience across cybersecurity and technology to the UK security sector, working directly with organisations to strengthen their defences against an increasingly sophisticated and fast-moving threat landscape. He has held senior leadership positions at two of the UK's leading cyber security and information security firms, including roles as Global Head of Channel Sales and Head of Channel, where he built and scaled high-performing partner ecosystems delivering enterprise-grade security solutions across the UK & Ireland and North America.

Throughout his career, Jason has earned a reputation for bridging the gap between technical excellence and commercial clarity. He specialises in helping organisations of all sizes understand their cyber risk in practical terms and take confident, informed action. He has spoken publicly on topics such as cyber incident response planning, ransomware resilience, and building security cultures that go beyond tick-box compliance.

Dragon Defence was born from a frustration Jason and James heard repeatedly from businesses: that world-class cyber security felt inaccessible, overly complex, jargon-heavy, and difficult to navigate. Dragon Defence changes that. By combining deep technical capability with a straight-talking, client-first approach, the company makes it simple for organisations to access the protection they genuinely need without noise, confusion, or unnecessary complexity.

As Co-Founder and Technical Director of Dragon Defence, James Pickard brings over a decade of offensive security experience to every engagement, working with some of the UK's larger organisations as Head of Security Testing. He thinks like an attacker, because that's the only honest way to test a defence. Whether it's infrastructure, web applications, cloud environments or the human element, he finds the gaps that others miss.

His experience spans the full spectrum of organisations, from small businesses and fast-growing companies to large enterprises, as well as charities, education and public sector. That breadth means James understands both the threats facing well-resourced security teams and the real-world constraints of organisations protecting what matters on a tighter budget.

He works with clients, not just for them, translating complex risk into clear decisions and giving leadership teams the confidence to act. James invests in understanding each client's business, their risks and their goals, building relationships that go beyond the engagement, the trusted partner clients come back to, not just a supplier they found on a procurement list.

Stuart Steer brings years of hands-on experience in IT, technology and business support to his role at Steer IT Solutions. Working closely with organisations across Wales and beyond, he has built a reputation for making technology straightforward, reliable and accessible, helping businesses use IT to support their day-to-day operations and longer-term ambitions.

As the founder of Steer IT Solutions, Stuart understands that businesses need more than technical fixes. They need a trusted partner who can explain their options clearly, respond when things go wrong and help them make informed decisions about their systems, security and future technology needs.
