Join Plantlife at Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve for a free practical conservation drop-in session.

These relaxed sessions are an opportunity to try conservation volunteering before deciding whether you’d like to get more involved. There’s no expectation that you already know anything about conservation and no obligation to become a regular volunteer afterwards.

During the session, you’ll join our team and volunteers carrying out practical work around the reserve. Activities vary depending on what needs doing and could include habitat management, cutting back vegetation, maintaining paths or other practical tasks that help us care for the reserve.

Who is it for?

Everyone aged 18+ is welcome. You do not need any previous conservation experience, specialist knowledge or equipment.

We particularly want volunteering at Ranscombe to feel welcoming to people who may not traditionally see conservation volunteering as being for them. If you’re completely new to conservation or need additional support to take part, please feel free to contact us before the session.

When?

Wednesday 23 September, 10am–2pm

Wednesday 30 September, 10am–2pm

You are welcome to attend the whole session or just part of it.

What do I need to bring?

Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and suitable footwear for being outdoors. We’ll provide the tools and equipment needed for the conservation work. Please bring any food and water you may need, we’ll provide hot drinks and biscuits.

Where?

The session will take place at Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve, but the exact meeting point will depend on where the conservation team is working that day.
