Live at Acanteen brings Live and Original Country, Americana and Roots music to Chelmsford on 2nd Thursday of every month Headliner : Katy Hurt (UK - Duo) Born in London and raised in the US, Katy Hurt was drawn to the sounds of Country, Americana and Classic Rock from a young age, inspired by artists such as Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, The Eagles, and Patsy Cline. Katy Hurt’s work ethic and authenticity are apparent in each of her songs and are evidenced by her rigorous touring schedule and accolades. In 2018 she opened for Liam Gallagher at the Pilton Party and 2019 saw Katy and her band perform over 150 shows across two sold out headline tours, as well as international dates in Canada, the US and the Caribbean where she performed alongside Sonia Leigh on the Melissa Etheridge cruise and opened for the Bellamy Brothers at their first UK show in over a decade. Katy’s self-released debut studio EP “Unfinished Business”, which produced the Top 20 hit singles “Revved Up” and “Unfinished Business” was given 5 star reviews across the board. Katy performed at LA NAMM in Jan 2020, representing brands such as Tanglewood, Yamaha & G7th Capos and flew from Winnipeg to LA and back to continue work on her debut album. Katy's creative journey also took her to Canada, a place she now calls her second home, where she wrote and recorded a wave of new material. Among them were “Sounds Good In A Bar” and “Wish I Could Give You Up,” both of which soared to Number 1 on the UK iTunes charts. These tracks gained international traction, earning radio play on CBC, SiriusXM, KIX Australia, and a spot on Amazon Music playlists. Produced by Juno Award-winner Murray Pulver (Doc Walker, The Bros. Landreth), the songs form part of Katy’s long-awaited and widely praised debut album “Gimme A Break” which was released on May 23rd. With a rapidly growing fan base, Katy Hurt is poised to take the music world by storm with her authentic storytelling, genre-defying sound and undeniable talent. Special Guest: Jess Klein (USA - Solo) Jess Klein came to this world to pull firebrand power and childlike joy from our darkest shadows. Her acoustic-driven, hook-laden story songs revel in the polychrome of human experience - joy, rage, sensuality and resilience. The New York Times calls her “A songwriter with a voice of unblinking tenacity.” Jess has toured the globe performing in pin-drop listening rooms, cozy theaters and at raucous festivals in front of tens of thousands of fans. She has toured nationally and internationally supporting Arlo Guthrie, Josh Ritter, Damien Dempsey, John Fullbright and Jonathan Byrd and has opened for such legends as Ani DiFranco, Steve Earle and Alejandro Escovedo. Jess has appeared on Good Morning America and NPR’s All Things Considered and has performed at the Newport, Winnipeg, Falcon Ridge and Philadelphia Folk Festivals as well as Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.
