The run
Start
The start line is at the junction of Beckford Road and Willow Bank Road, just outside the Gardeners Arms and around 150 metres from Race HQ. We’ll have a race briefing at approximately 10.45, before walking together to the start line.
Course
The Alderton 5k is a fast, fairly flat out-and-back course on closed roads. From the start, runners head along the lanes of Beckford Road, passing Race HQ and continuing through Great Washbourne before turning just before the A46 at Beckford.
The course then returns along Beckford Road to Alderton, where runners enter the playing field, complete a short lap of the football pitch and finish near the penalty spot.
It’s a great course for first-time 5k runners — and for anyone looking to clock a quick time.

Water
Water is available at the start, turnaround point at approximately 2.5km, and finish.
Headphones
You won’t be disqualified for wearing headphones. Please make sure you can hear marshal instructions, emergency vehicles and other runners at all times.
Finish line and funnel
As you approach the finish, you’ll be directed into a single-file finish funnel.
Please stay in your finishing position, do not overtake in the funnel and do not leave the funnel until directed.
At the end of the funnel, we’ll record your race number to confirm your finishing time and position. If you’ve run parkrun before, the process will feel familiar. Once you’ve left the funnel, water will be available from our young volunteers.
After the finish
The race finishes on Alderton Playing Field, where you can grab some well-earned water, tea and cake.
All junior runners will receive a free medal, and anyone who has purchased a medal can collect it after finishing.
Results
Provisional results will be available shortly after the finish, with final results published later on Facebook, Instagram and at www.alderton5k.co.uk (http://www.alderton5k.co.uk).
We’ll also publish free finish-line photos after the race.
Please stay for the prize presentations, which take place once the final runner has finished — usually around 50 minutes after the race starts. We’d really appreciate your support for our winners.
