About This Event

'Archaeology and Life in the Rows' will reveal findings from past excavations that shed light on the lives of those who inhabited Chester’s Rows from the 16th to 19th centuries. This talk is scheduled for 24 November 2026 at Ye Olde Boot Inn.

Discover what past excavations have revealed about the people who lived and worked in Chester’s Rows from the 16th to 19th centuries.

Who lived and worked in Chester’s Rows over the centuries, and what did they leave behind?

Because the Rows sit at the heart of Chester’s Area of Archaeological Importance and Conservation Area, very little excavation takes place there today. But digs carried out in the past have uncovered a wealth of evidence about everyday life in these remarkable buildings.

This talk explores what those older excavations have revealed about the people who made their homes and livelihoods in the Rows between the 16th and 19th centuries - offering a rare glimpse beneath the surface of some of Chester’s most familiar streets.

During the evening, we’d warmly encourage you to support our wonderful local businesses by picking up a drink from the bar.

This talk will begin at 6.30pm promptly - please arrive slightly before to allow time to buy refresments and find a seat.

Cancellation Policy: Please notify us in advance if you are unable to attend this event. Tickets are limited and could be transferred to another person with notice. Love our Heritage – let’s share it with everyone.
