A relaxed and informal evening with the Fiddlestone Shanty Band, and a fish and chip supper.

St Columba's Church Hall is sited just across the car park from the church. It has been in use since 1978 for an active mix of church parish and diocesan activities, along with a wide range of community social and educational programmes.The venue is accessible for wheelchair users and there is a disabled toilet. There is no induction loop.

Fiddlestone is a well-known 5-piece acoustic folk band from the Wirral and Ellesmere Port area near Chester, performing traditional and contemporary English, Scottish, Irish, and maritime-fused songs and tunes with rich vocal harmonies.

• History: Formed originally in the late 1960s/1970s out of local scouting and folk roots, the group became a staple of the Merseyside and Cheshire folk club circuits.

• Style: They blend historical and contemporary folk, sea songs, and shanty-adjacent tunes with a distinct acoustic delivery.

• Lineup & Instruments: Features multi-instrumentalists playing guitar, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin, English concertina, whistles, double bass, and bodhrán.

A traditional fish and chips supper will be served, consisting of freshly fried, crispy fish in a light batter, accompanied by chips and mushy peas. We are delighted to say that the award winning Western Grove chippy is providing the food for the evening. They are a small, independent, family run business with an amazing team who have won many national accolades for their responsibly sourced traditional fish and chips.

Their commitment is to provide excellent quality food and the highest standard of customer service. They are plastic free pioneers for the city of Chester, Gold sustainable palm oil champions for Chester Zoo and NFFF quality award holders.

There will be a raffle with a selection of prizes and a few paper based quizzes to keep you entertained at your table between events.

We ask you to bring your own drinks but we will supply all crockery and cutlery.
