Step back to the 1640s with a costumed guide to explore what happened when local power, Parliament and the Crown collided in Chester.

Who had the right to rule - and who had the right to challenge them?

As part of UK Parliament Week 2026, join your guide in full 1640s costume for a special walking tour through the streets and Rows of Chester, exploring what happened when local power, Parliament and the Crown collided.

Along the way, you’ll discover how the English Civil War played out in the city, the people caught up in the struggle for authority, and how the conflict changed the relationship between Parliament, the Crown and ordinary people forever.

A fascinating journey into a turbulent chapter of Chester’s past - and the questions about power and representation that still matter today.
