This tour will focus on artworks that address heritage risk — built, cultural, and natural — including Caitríona Leahy’s Critical Zone: Bog Study I, II & III (2020), a photographic triptych exploring the degraded peat bogs of the Irish Midlands; Amanda Coogan’s Caught in the Furze (2025), a series of drawings created as part of Coogan’s seven-day performance for Cork Midsummer Festival, which drew on ancient folk traditions and contemporary performance while navigating the spaces between history and memory, myth and modernity; and Hughie O’Donoghue’s Knocknalower: Hill of the Lepers (2001), a painting that investigates the layered histories of place that shape the Irish landscape.
No specialist knowledge is required. The tour will run for approximately 45 minutes and will be followed by time for discussion.
