What is it really like to be a professional magician?

Join Cork-based magician Zac Coveney for an entertaining exploration of the art, psychology and creative thinking behind magic. Drawing on his experience as a professional performer, Zac explores the questions, ideas and misconceptions that surround one of the world’s oldest forms of entertainment, and what magic can reveal about the way we see, think and experience the world.

From attention and perception to memory, suggestion, deception and the creative process, Inside the Mind of a Magician takes a closer look at what happens behind the scenes when we experience something that seems impossible.

Expect an informative and accessible evening that offers a different perspective on an art form most of us have experienced, but few have had the chance to properly explore.

The talk will also be interactive, with live magic and audience participation woven throughout the evening.

Every event features a different speaker and theme, covering everything from science, history, psychology, philosophy, politics, film, Irish culture, and bizarre internet rabbit holes to cinema breakdowns, existential questions, and strange moments from history.

One night could be about Dublin history, cult movies, or the psychology of personality. Another could explore black holes, political movements, philosophy, true crime, science fiction, or the weird side of human behaviour.

After each talk there’s a live Q&A, drinks, conversation, and a chance to meet new people who are curious about the world and up for a good night out that’s a little different from the usual pub routine.
