This two-day sewing course takes place at St. John the Baptist Parish Hall in Cork. The workshop provides hands-on help for those wanting to start sewing garments. Tickets are priced at £258.39.
2-Day Course (Sunday 23rd August & Sunday 30th August) Ready to start sewing garments but want some hands on help? This is for you!
Stop feeling intimidated by garment patterns and start making clothes you actually want to wear.
Have you been using your sewing machine for a while but feel stuck on "simple" projects? Are you ready to move past cushions and tote bags and finally dive into garment sewing, but the thought of doing it alone feels a bit daunting?
This is a small, in-person course designed to bridge that gap. Over 2 relaxed days in Midleton, we’ll make a brilliant, comfy pants together—step by step, at a pace that allows you to learn.
My Approach
The goal of this course isn't just to rush through everything.
It’s to help you properly understand what you are doing and why. I want you to walk away not just with a new pants, but with the skills and confidence to make another one at home without my help.
What We’ll Cover:
Preparation
Choosing the correct size
Tracing and understanding your pattern
Cutting:
Laying out and cutting your fabric
Construction:
Constructing the trousers step by step
Sewing pockets
Creating an elasticated waistband
Hemming your finished trousers
Confidence:
Tips and tricks to help you avoid common beginner mistakes
You'll also learn how to approach garment patterns with much more confidence, so the next project feels far less intimidating.
Is this for me?
This course is perfect if you can already use a sewing machine (if it's still getting jammed up, that's fine - the course will get you lots of practice using your machine) and you’re ready for that next step into making your own clothes. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable threading your machine and sewing straight lines.
Dates: Sunday 23rd & Sunday 30th August 2026
Time: 10am – 4pm each day.
Location: St John The Baptist Community Hall, Midleton.
Class Size: Limited spaces to ensure everyone gets plenty of 1-on-1 support.
Cost: €240 (email me for alternative payment options jennifer@sewyourownclothes.com)
What you'll need:
The Pattern: We will be using the Bob Woven Pants by Style Arc: click here to see pattern.
You’ll need to buy your own copy and bring it printed to the first session.
Fabric: I will provide calico for a practice version. If you’d prefer to go straight to your final "fashion" fabric, I’ll send you a guidance sheet on what to buy once you’ve secured your spot.
Please Note: To cover the upfront costs of the venue, this course will only go ahead if the minimum number of spaces are filled. If we don’t reach that number, you will receive a full refund.
If you have any questions, please email me: jennifer@sewyourownclothes.com
