Featuring Pádraig Trehy and Rupert MacCarthy-Morrogh

After its premiere at Cork International Film Festival last year and the long awaited cinema release last month, screening in Triskel Arts Centre, we are really excited to focus our October Out of Frame session on the Cork produced feature film STUPID AUGUST.

We are very much looking forward to be joined by writer and director Pádraig Trehy and cinematographer Rupert MacCarthy-Morrogh to talk about every detail of making a contemporary silent film.

https://www.instagram.com/padraigtrehyfilms/STUPID AUGUST is a silent historical fantasy, which tells the story of an amnesiac clown exiled to 1960s Ireland, whose buried memories slowly resurface, forcing him to confront the ghosts of the past. Stupid August utilizes elements of fact and conjecture and mixes them in a hybrid of expressionism, surrealism and pantomime. Drawing on unsettling historical events — including the arrival of Nazi war criminals in Ireland, the film explores the dangers of burying collective histories.

We will watch an extract of the film before diving deep into all aspects of development and production.

Entry is FREE, we warmly welcome donations at the end to support our events.
