The Boomtown Rats return to Cork for a landmark live performance at the City Hall on Saturday, 24th October, as part of the world-renowned Cork Jazz Festival.

This special concert marks an extraordinary moment in music history — celebrating 50 years of The Boomtown Rats, one of Ireland’s most influential and enduring bands, alongside 40 years since the groundbreaking LIVE AID, the global event that redefined the power of music to inspire change.

Formed in 1975, The Boomtown Rats rose from Dublin’s vibrant music scene to international acclaim, delivering a string of era-defining hits including “Rat Trap” — the first Irish band to reach No.1 in the UK charts — and the unforgettable “I Don’t Like Mondays.” Their raw energy, sharp social commentary, and unmistakable sound made them pioneers of a generation.

Fronted by Bob Geldof whose leadership helped bring about Live Aid in 1985, the band’s legacy extends far beyond music. Now, five decades on from their formation, The Boomtown Rats take to the stage in Cork City Hall for a night that promises to be both a celebration and a powerful live experience.
