The story behind Bass

Bass has been brewed in Burton upon Trent since 1777, when William Bass founded the brewery. The brewery went on to become one of the most famous names in British brewing, with its beers exported around the world.

Bass is also responsible for one of the most recognisable symbols in beer. Its iconic red triangle became the UK's first registered trade mark in 1876, securing its place in British branding history. The mark had already been used by Bass for years before it was officially registered.

The brewery's success helped establish Burton upon Trent as one of the world's great brewing towns, with its beers becoming particularly renowned for their pale ales and IPA.
