About This Event

East Staffordshire's Inequalities Conference will occur on 12 November 2026 at Burton and South Derbyshire College. This free conference invites participants to share local voices and explore solutions to inequalities.

Join East Staffordshire’s next Inequalities Conference to share local voices, explore solutions and turn insight into action.

About the event

At our first Inequalities Conference in June, we explored some of the biggest challenges facing people and communities across East Staffordshire.

This November, we’re turning the focus to solutions, shining a light on the people, partnerships and community strengths already making a difference, and exploring how we can build on them together.

What to expect

The day will bring together community voices, lived experience and insight from people working across, and with, health, community and inequality.

It will be an opportunity to share learning, hear different perspectives, make connections, reflect together and explore practical ways to create healthier, fairer and more connected communities across East Staffordshire.

Morning: Community Voices and Lived Experience

Hear from local people and communities about what is already happening across East Staffordshire, how movement and physical activity are helping to tackle the challenges we identified in June, and what we can learn from lived experience.

We’ll showcase local voices, community projects and the work already making a difference. What could others learn from your experience?

Have you seen movement or physical activity help reduce challenges such as loneliness, poor mental health, social isolation or the impacts of poverty?

What stories, projects and experiences from East Staffordshire should we be learning from?

What does physical activity mean in your life, organisation or community?

Afternoon: Insights into Action

Together, we’ll explore practical ways to respond to the pressures identified at our first conference and consider the role community and physical activity can play in creating positive change.

We’ll be joined by local and national voices working across health, community engagement and inequality to share insight, challenge thinking and inspire action.

Who is it for?

The conference is for anyone with an interest in tackling inequalities and strengthening communities across East Staffordshire, including people from community organisations, health, local government, voluntary and public services, physical activity and sport, as well as local residents and people with lived experience.
