A Classics summer school for 16-19 year olds combining high academic standards with entertaining extracurricular activities
JACT Classics Camp is hosted at Denstone College in Uttoxeter. We offer a 5-night residential camp for students, whether they are currently studying classics, or are brand new to the ancient world, we have a program to suit you. We offer 6 taught sessions a day and you can choose classes tailored to your interests, from beginner's Greek to Roman history. Outside of class, we offer enrichment workshops and offer rehearsals each evening to produce an ancient comedy and an ancient tragedy on the final night.

KEY INFORMATION
Getting here: Denstone College can be accessed from nearby Uttoxeter Station or Derby Station. The nearest airport is East Midlands. We offer shuttles* to and from Derby Station which is 30-40 minutes away.
Cost: The total cost of the Summer School including bed, board and tuition is £440 for those in a shared room, £460 for those in a twin room, and £480 for those in a private room. We will make every effort to allocate you the room type you have requested. See information on payment deadlines* below.
Catering includes lunch and dinner on arrival on the 26 July and breakfast before departure on 31 July. Full board is provided on all full days of the summer school.
Tuition includes 6 taught sessions per day and evening activities.
BOOKING PROCESS
Step 1:
Register here on Eventbrite and pay a £10 booking fee. Please note that this is a separate booking fee and is not deducted from your final course fee.
Step 2:
Fill in our Onboarding Form within 1 week of Eventbrite registration. The link to this form will be shared with you during the registration process and will be sent out in your booking confirmation email. Failure to fill in this form or to provide full detail will mean that your Eventbrite registration may be cancelled and refunded and you will have to start the process again.
Step 3:
We will send out a reference request to a teacher or staff member at your school that you have nominated as your referee. They must complete this reference within 6 weeks of us sending it out (or no later than 10th July for Late bookings*). We will inform you if we have not received your reference by the deadline. Failure to provide a reference may result in your registration being cancelled.
Step 4:
We will send out invoices to you by email in stages, depending on whether you have an Early Bird, Spring, or Late booking*. Payment must be made via bank transfer to the account details on the invoice. Payment can be made in installments, provided that full payment is made by the deadline*. Payments must use the student’s surname and initial as a reference so that we can track them clearly.
Step 5:
Once payment is received, from May we will add students to the general Google Classroom called ‘Classics Camp Updates 2027’ using the student email we have been provided with in the Onboarding form. We will send individual student timetables out via Google Classroom from May onwards. We will also use the general Classroom to send out other key updates in advance of Classics Camp.
Step 6:
From May onwards, we will contact you to confirm with those who have expressed interest in shuttles to and/or from Derby Station. Please note that these will be invoiced separately from the main course fee. If you are taking a shuttle, these will depart from Derby Station at 12.30pm on 26 July and will depart from Denstone from 11am on 31 July. As such, please bear this in mind when booking your train transport if you are planning to take a shuttle. The cost of the shuttles will be £10-20 each way, though we hope to keep it to the lower end of that range.
