Leah McLaren will be sharing her story of national newspapers to hot yoga, property and the creation of a brand-new wellness hub.

From national newspapers to hot yoga, property and the creation of a brand-new wellness hub, Leah McLaren’s business journey has been anything but conventional.

After a career in press photography and picture editing, including senior roles within national newspapers, Leah changed direction in 2017, investing her life savings into bringing Hotpod Yoga to Derby. Starting with an inflatable pod transported between community halls in Allestree, she went on to establish a permanent studio and build a successful local business.

A huge influence throughout Leah’s journey has been her dad, one of her biggest supporters from those very early days of driving around Derby with the pod in the boot of her car. He sadly passed away in 2020, but his influence continues to drive Leah and her ambitions.

In 2022, Leah started a property business alongside Hotpod Yoga, adding another chapter to her entrepreneurial story.

Almost a decade after Hotpod began, the journey has come full circle with the opening of The Cube at Park Farm, Allestree, an ambitious new wellness hub bringing several health, fitness and wellbeing businesses together.
