A tour of the main industrial sites of the village, along with the remains of the waterpower used by the mills, housing and quarries.
Brief History:
Milford is a village developed by the Strutt family of Belper to provide housing and facilities for the families attracted to working in the mills, bleaching works and foundry. Sadly, most of the industrial buildings have long gone, but the most of the housing remains.
The walk will be led by Jane Whitaker of the Belper Historical Society, and takes in the main industrial sites of the village, along with the remains of the waterpower used by the mills, housing, pubs and quarries as well as stories of some of the families living in the village at the time.
The walk is on the flat, partially along the A6 and will take about an hour and a half.
Meeting place:
We will meet at Milford Triangle, on the corner of the A6 and Chevin Road, DE56 0QH, opposite the Strutt Arms.

Parking:
On-street parking is available on Chevin Road, with additional spaces in a lay-by on the A6 near the mill chimney.
Customer parking may also be available at the Strutt Arms/vets car park. If using this parking, please check the relevant conditions on arrival and register your vehicle as required. Purchase of food or drink may be necessary.
