Set across private farmland, old barns and a four-acre flying field, the day offers a varied mix of static portrait photography and birds-in-flight action. The surrounding farm provides an atmospheric backdrop, with traditional barns, old machinery and rustic settings creating the perfect environment for classic barn owl images.

The experience is suitable for photographers of all abilities and is designed to help you build a varied portfolio of wildlife images in both controlled and natural environment. It's a great opportunity to test the latest SONY cameras and lenses. If you are not a SONY shooter, then leave your camera at home and try one of Sony's!

The morning session will concentrate on photographing barn owls around the farm. You will have opportunities to capture detailed portraits and environmental images using:

Traditional barns and rustic farm buildings.

Old farm machinery and equipment.

Natural perches and countryside settings.

A private open area suitable for close-up portraits.

These locations provide a superb setting for creating classic barn owl photographs with character and atmosphere.

Following lunch, you will take part in a two-mile hawk walk across gently undulating farmland. The walk is suitable for most fitness levels and provides an opportunity to photograph the speed, agility and natural behaviour of these impressive hunters.

The hawks will fly between trees, across open fields and through the surrounding farmland, creating exciting opportunities to photograph them both in flight and within a natural environment.

The day will also include:

A four-acre flying field for birds-in-flight photography.

Static photography opportunities with additional owl species.

Advice and support from Wex specialists.

Time for feedback, equipment discussions and photography advice.

10:00am–10:30am – Arrival, tea and coffee, SONY equipment preparation, welcome, health and safety briefing, and introduction to the instructor.

10:30am–12:00pm – Static barn owl photography around the farm and barns.

12:00pm–12:45pm – Lunch.

12:45pm–2:15pm – Hawk walk across the surrounding farmland.

2:15pm–2:30pm – Tea and coffee break.

2:30pm–3:30pm – Static photography with additional owl species around the farm.

3:30pm–4:00pm – Feedback, equipment discussion and event close.

Lunch is included. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options can be provided when requested in advance.
