About This Event

The City of Derry Kids Fun Run & Tri Taster will be held at The Ebrington Hotel & Oakroom Restaurant on Friday 4 September 2026, with a 6pm start. Organised by Triathlon Ireland in partnership with the City of Derry Triathlon, the event welcomes young people aged five to 15. Participants will have the opportunity to try a short run, cycle and swim in a safe, fully supervised environment, designed to introduce children to the world of multisport in a fun and accessible way. The format is inclusive, with activities carefully tailored to suit different age groups, ensuring everyone can take part at their own pace. Entry costs £10.

Join Triathlon Ireland and the City of Derry Triathlon for a fun, inclusive event for young people aged 5 to 15.

The City of Derry Kids Fun Run & Tri Taster is a fun, inclusive event for children aged 5 to 15.

Triathlon Ireland qualified coaches will first host a fun triathlon taster session for kids of all ages. Each participant will complete a 'triathlon' without leaving dry land!- using scooter boards, scooters and running. This event will take place at 12:30pm, outdoors.

Participants will then complete the City of Derry Kids Fun Run- distances will vary to suit all ages and abilities. This part of the event will take place at 1:30pm, outside.

What do you need?

Runners

Sports clothes

Weather appropriate outer layers

Water

Parents/carers must stay at the event at all times. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the walk/run.
