About This Event

A deep partial solar eclipse will be visible from the White Cliffs of Dover on Wednesday, 12 August 2026 at 18:00. Entry to the visitor centre and viewing areas requires admission.

See the deep partial solar eclipse on Wednesday, 12 August from the iconic White Cliffs of Dover. From the visitor centre, make your way up the hill onto Foxhill Down, then continue up to the top of the hill for a great view of the eclipse. The Moon starts to come between the Earth and the Sun at around 6.18 pm, and the eclipse is at its maximum at 7.13 pm, before finishing just after 8 pm.

We recommend arriving no later than 6.00 pm to see the entire eclipse. Depending on where you park, it will be a 10-15 minute walk to the best viewpoint.

The visitor centre cafe and shop will remain open until 7.30 pm, and the car park gates and toilets will be locked at 8.30 pm.
