Diasporic Sound Experience from the Global South

BAILE DA ESCOBAR — Diasporic Sound from Global South is a political and cultural statement rooted in the experience of the Brazilian diaspora in Dublin. Through music, movement, and collective celebration, the project creates space for communities often pushed to the margins to exist loudly, visibly, and unapologetically.

Blending Brazilian rhythms with Dancehall, Afrobeat, Amapiano, Baile Funk, and Hip-Hop, the party connects sounds born from resistance, migration, and identity across different geographies and histories. Created by two Brazilian DJs and artists living in the diaspora, BAILE DA ESCOBAR transforms the dancefloor into a space of cultural exchange, belonging, and expression.

In a city where racism, exclusion, and social division remain part of everyday reality for many immigrant communities, the event stands as an act of presence and connection. More than nightlife, it is a platform that amplifies underrepresented sounds, celebrates ancestry, and brings together diverse audiences through the power of music.

BAILE DA ESCOBAR exists to bridge communities, challenge cultural barriers, and affirm the importance of diaspora voices within Dublin’s creative landscape — creating an experience that is raw, global, inclusive, and deeply community-driven.

DEEZY

Deezy is a Dublin based Global Sounds DJ & producer who lives in the world of experimentation. He prides himself on holding the element of surprise as you just can never truly know what’s coming next based on his love for edits and diverse tastes within the afro disaporic genre. Deezy has a monthly residency in Pawn Shop as well as playing at the likes of Irish events such as All Tiogether Now Festival, Rendezvous, The Sweet Spot & MoCultivation. Expect vibes from genres such as Amapiano, Brazillian Funk, Jersey, Miami Bass, Kuduro, Gqom as well as other wildcards when he’s deck spinning. One thing that’s for sure about Deezy is to expect the unexpected!

ORTEGA

Ortega (Boomtz Boom) is a Brazilian DJ and electronic music producer from Taboão da Serra, São Paulo. Known for blending Breaks, Electro, House, and Acid with Latin, Jazz, Funk, and Disco influences, he has performed at major festivals and venues including Electric Picnic, Baile Trama and Wigwam. His discography includes the album Diggin’ For Beats Batuque and several acclaimed EPs, leading to his appointment in 2024 as curator of Canario Records.

ESCOBAR

ESCOBAR (Vithoria Escobar / ViEscobar) is a Brazilian DJ and dance artist based in Dublin. Rooted in Brazilian Funk, ESCOBAR’s sound is a reflection of both her heritage and her experience in the diaspora.

She has performed in events across Dublin, London, and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo), building a presence within both local and international club circuits.
