About This Event

Dead Calm, a band fronted by Donegal musician Liam McCay, will perform at Opium in Dublin on 26 September 2026. The event starts at 19:00. Tickets are listed as free.

Dead Calm is a band fronted by Liam McCay (Sign Crushes Motorist, Dead Calm, Take Care) – a prolific Irish musician from Donegal, who has multiple different widely successful aliases that explore and weave between a variety of different genres. Namely, slowcore and indie-rock.

The lyrics are direct, poignant, introspective and are often coupled with melancholic themes that have earned him a cult following online across Spotify and Soundcloud.

His growth has been organic, with a very DIY, bedroom approach, despite his rapidly skyrocketing ascent.

He began with the fiddle, pivoted to guitar during the pandemic, and has since released extensive work, even turning down record deals to keep his creative process personal.
