Get ready for an exciting day of books, creativity and family fun at the Rathgar Children’s Book Festival 2026!

Now in its 6th year, the Rathgar Children's Book Festival is back and better than ever. Returning to the beautiful newly refurbished Christchurch and Parish Hall in the heart of Rathgar, this year's programme is once again packed with inspiring author readings, creative workshops and the kind of storytelling magic that has made this volunteer led community festival a firm favourite year after year.

Children can enjoy hands-on workshops in writing and illustration & crafting for our younger festival goers

Our partner bookseller, Dubray Books, will be on site so you can buy titles from our featured authors to have signed, or pick up the perfect gift for the avid young reader in your life.

There’ll also be plenty of family fun with refreshments, face painting, balloon art and even a visit from an ice cream van all inclued in the ticket price.

Best of all, the festival is great value, with tickets starting at with a range of ticket options with accompanying adults are FREE of charge

Exciting news for 2026 as our audience grows, so do we! This year we are thrilled to debut Plot Twist -Deception in Rathgar, our very first teen focused event. Taking place on Friday 2nd October at the same stunning Christchurch Rathgar, Plot Twist brings together some of Ireland's most exciting authors, illustrators and storytellers for a night of workshops, live discussion and plenty of surprises.
