Start/Finish: Johnnie Foxes Pub.
Walk Description: Starting from Johnnie Foxes Pub, we take the Dublin Mountains Way up the GAP. We'll pass a small pond where you'll enjoy great views of the Dublin and Wicklow countryside to the south. From there, we'll take a woodland path to reach Three Rock Mountain, passing some huge granite tors along the way. Next, we'll meander along Ticknock forest before ascending The Wicklow Way and a fine path to reach the Bronze Age cairn on the summit of Fairy Castle, where you can admire a bird's-eye view of Dublin, the Wicklow hills, Ireland's Eye, Lambay Island, and on a very clear day even the Mourne Mountains and Wales! From Fairy Castle, the hike takes us along a path to Two Rock Mountain, where you can admire more granite tor formations and enjoy an amazing vista to the Great and Little Sugar Loaf in Wicklow. From there, we'll descend a slope which will take us to the Dublin Mountain Way and from there retrace our steps back to Johnnie Foxes Pub, where you can optionally sit by a cosy fire and eat and/or drink.
Meeting time: 8.45 am sharp.
Price: We ask for a €20 donation that we give to charity.
What to bring on the day:
• Hiking boots with good ankle support
• Plenty of water – don't forget to bring your reusable bottle!
• Snack/lunch
• Sun cream and sunglasses
• Rain gear – waterproof jacket and over-trousers (just in case ... it is Ireland after all!)
Car: As part of Follow the Camino's commitment to a sustainable planet, we ask that people car pool wherever possible when travelling to and from walking activities.
We can't wait to introduce you to your Camino journey and to guide you every step of the way.
