The Marble City - Heritage Train Special - Sunday 23rd August 2026.
Join us on board for a fun day out on the rails on board our heritage carriages hauled by an Irish Rail diesel locomotive as we travel to the historic medieval City of Kilkenny.
The route to Kilkenny will take us from Dublin Connolly, through the Phoenix Park tunnel. Then onto the Cork mainline out of Dublin. Soon we will be passing through the Curragh of Kildare. We will then turn left and take the line to Kilkenny, passing through Carlow, crossing the River Barrow and then to Mac Donagh station, which is conveniently located in the Medieval City of Kilkenny.
This is a full day out from Dublin. Our departure will be at 10:30 from Dublin Connolly. The journey to Kilkenny will take just 2 hours with a pick up stop in Kildare at 11:20.
Alighting in Kilkenny at 12:25 passengers will have over 3 and a half hours to explore the town enjoying the many shops, cafés, restaurants and bars the town has to offer. Maybe even a visit to the magnificent Castle?
Our return departure from Kilkenny will be at 16:00 with an arrival time back into Dublin Connolly for 18:20.
We have a snack car on board and for the adults a full bar serving draught Guinness and selection of beers, wines, prosecco, spirits and much more. Great craic is guaranteed. Bring your friends and family along for a fun Sunday day out!
