About This Event

A film and philosophy talk on The Worst Person in the World will take place at 27 Pearse Street in Dublin on 22 August 2026 at 14:00. The event is part of the Dublin Film Talks series. Tickets cost £11.70. Further details are not provided.

A relaxed film & philosophy talk on The Worst Person in the World. Think, discuss, and meet like-minded people.

Dublin Film Talks is a monthly gathering for people who love cinema and enjoy thinking about films together. Rather than a film club, each session is a talk and interactive lecture that combines film analysis with accessible philosophical ideas, creating a relaxed space to explore cinema, exchange perspectives, and meet like-minded people. Everyone is welcome!

For our first edition, we'll dive into Joachim Trier's acclaimed The Worst Person in the World, exploring its characters, relationships, themes, and the questions it leaves us with.

Using the film as our starting point, we'll talk about modern anxieties, existentialism, and what it means to search for meaning in today's world. Along the way, we'll touch on ideas from philosophers like Søren Kierkegaard and Jean-Paul Sartre, exploring themes of freedom, identity, love, choice, and purpose, all through the lens of cinema.

No previous knowledge of philosophy or film is required, just curiosity and a love for film!

P.S. We won't be screening the film during the event, so be sure to watch The Worst Person in the World beforehand to get the most out of the discussion :)
