Tutor Hetty Haxworth will lead a drypoint printing workshop designed for beginners. The event is held at Off The Rails Arthouse in Glasgow on 31 October 2026. The price for the workshop is £75.
Tutor – Hetty Haxworth at Hetty’s August workshop booked up so quickly we asked her to come back. This workshop is designed for beginners and for those who have already participated. What is Drypoint Drypoint printing is an intaglio technique where a design is scratched onto a plastic plate using a sharp tool. The plate is then covered with ink and wiped off with a cloth, leaving the ink only in the incised lines. Damp paper is placed over the plate and it is put through a printing press, creating an embossed print with a soft velvety quality. Bring along a selection of postcard sized ideas or magazine cutouts or anything to give you inspiration. Hetty will have plenty of images with her too just in case you forget. Once you have printed in black, you can then experiment by printing in different colours You can wipe the ink off in different ways to add texture, use watercolour or paint directly onto the plate. Just enjoy a day of experimentation! Workshop fee £75.00 Includes materials and Eventbrite fees. To book a place Click here Hetty Haxworth has been printmaking for the last 25 years since leaving The Glasgow School of Art. She works in a variety of printmaking techniques. Her work has been shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Scottish Academy, Society of Scottish Artists and the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts. She lives and works from a studio in rural Aberdeenshire where the ever-changing colours and shapes of the landscape are an important source of inspiration for her abstract prints. As the countryside alters with the seasons, her work responds to transient shifts of light, capturing moments in colour.
