Become a part of our Community Reporter Scheme and get hands-on experience reporting on local events, people, and news. This is an in-person gig where you’ll meet new friends, sharpen your skills, and have fun bringing your community’s voice to life. No prior reporting experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity.

This week we're extra fortunate that the session co-incides with the Bishop Auckland History and Heritage Fayre. Participants who come along to the McIntyre Centre will be able to get involved in the coverage of that event featuring memorabilia and stories that celebrate the rich industrial heritage of Bishop Auckland and County Durham. PLUS we have a special guest joining the session to lift the lid on life as a professional broadcast journalist.

SWDN is offering six weeks of National Lottery funded community workshops to equip people with the skills to tell the stories of your people and places.

The workshops are open to anyone based in:

Ferryhill

Shildon

Spennymoor
