We’re thrilled to partner with Castle Triathlon Club of Prudhoe and Northumbrian Water to bring back our popular Sprint & Standard Triathlons at the beautiful Derwent Reservoir near Consett in 2027!

About the Venue

Derwent Reservoir, located on the Durham/Northumberland border, is a stunning site owned by Northumbrian Water. The triathlon will be held on the South side of the reservoir.

Swim: In the clear, calm waters of the reservoir

Cycle: Quiet, scenic country lanes

Run: Flat(ish) paths and trails

Event Distances

Ideal for everyone—from first-timers to seasoned athletes. No cut-off times. Relay options available for all events!

Sprint Triathlon

Swim: 750m | Cycle: 22km | Run: 5km

Standard Triathlon

Swim: 1,500m | Cycle: 39km | Run: 10km

Sprint Aquabike

Swim: 750m | Cycle: 22km

Standard Aquabike

Swim: 1,500m | Cycle: 39km

Wetsuit Policy

We anticipate that water temperatures will be warm enough to make wetsuits optional. However, we do recommend wearing a wetsuit for comfort and buoyancy, especially for less experienced swimmers.

Transition Area

Secure and competitors-only

Your Race Number & Bike Number must match your Racking Number

Small bags or boxes allowed

You must wear your helmet and have your bike number attached before entering

Post-race, bike and bib numbers will be checked before exiting

Timing

Live chip-timing provided by Timing Up North.

Finish Line

All finishers will receive:

Parking

Parking is available at Derwent Waterside Park for all participants and is charged at £3 per vehicle. Please note there is a 10–15 minute walk from the car park to the event area.
