Join choreographer and dance artist Jean Abreu for a one-day workshop exploring how memory, identity and culture pass through generations.

Drawing inspiration from the legacy and moving-image work of Derek Jarman, participants will explore the body as a living archive through movement, film and creative reflection, considering how artistic histories can inspire new responses in the present.

The day will conclude with a conversation and Q&A between Jean Abreu and artist Claudia Kappenberg, reflecting on Jarman’s legacy, cultural memory and artistic transmission.

The workshop forms part of Jean’s ongoing research for After Bliss, a new interdisciplinary work exploring memory, inheritance and embodied knowledge.

No previous dance or movement experience is required.

The event is part of Jean Abreu's latest research and development and work in progress entitled After Bliss, a moving installation where body, sound, image and object coexist in a continuous state of becoming, tracing the after image of Blue, the final work by Derek Jarman.

This iteration of After Bliss is in collaboration with Devonshire Collective's moving image forum, Volta.
