An evening concert of familiar and contemporary 'Highland 'compositions with classical piobaireachd ground variations –an unusual Concert

The Duo are both highly accomplished musicians with considerable experience in different musical venues and groupings ... and are both music graduates from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In this venue they will be promoting both Scottish traditional themes and modern composition. The Concert is sponsored by the Scottish Arts Trust.

Bede Patterson (pipes):

Is an active performer, composer, and teacher of bagpipes, and strives to innovate and elevate Scottish Traditional Music so that it can be as valued and recognised as other musical forms around the world. His work in this field has been the cornerstone of academic research to date, alongside an extensive performance portfolio in the UK

Dean Garrity (saxophone):

Is a Scottish saxophonist studying a Postgraduate MMus degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), having attained a First Class undergraduate degree (BMus) with honours.

In 2021, he was the woodwind winner of the RCS concerto competition and was awarded the Governors’ Recital Prize for Chamber Music with his saxophone quartet, The Ventus Quartet.
