About This Event

Big Living History Week runs from 10 to 18 October 2026 at Edinburgh Castle, Blackness Castle and Craigmillar Castle. Historic characters will be on site to speak with visitors, take photos and explain the history of each castle. The event is included in the admission price for all three venues.

The Living History characters are back at Edinburgh Castle, Blackness Castle and Craigmillar Castle. Especially for the October holidays, Edinburgh Castle, Blackness Castle and Craigmillar Castle will be hosting a character from the castles history. Come along for the opportunity to meet everyone from a knight to a medieval musician. Characters will be on hand to tell you all about the site, the time period they are portraying as well as posing for some photos. Big Living History Week runs on selected dates from 10 to 18 October 2026, and is included in admission price.
