About This Event

This summer, the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh is inviting families to explore the beauty of nature through art with a special workshop titled Botanical Plates. Taking place on Friday 24 July, the event commences at 1:30pm and offers a delightful afternoon for young creatives. The workshop begins with a guided visit to the captivating The Edwardians: Age of Elegance exhibition. Here, participants will have the opportunity to admire exquisite botanical plates, gaining insight into their intricate detail and artistry. Following this inspiring viewing, attendees will venture into the Palace’s historic Physic Garden. Drawing inspiration from the diverse plant life and the artistic examples seen earlier, children aged seven to twelve will then be encouraged to design their own unique plates. Each child will be provided with a small porcelain plate and special porcelain pens to bring their botanical visions to life.
