About This Event

Breaking Well is a monthly space to explore feelings regarding the breakdown of ecological and societal systems. It takes place at The Salisbury Centre in Edinburgh on 24 August 2026 at 18:30. Pricing is available on the website.

A friendly monthly space to explore how we feel about the breaking down of ecological and societal systems due to the climate/nature crises

Do you have the feeling that things are unraveling, that the natural and human systems that have kept our world (more or less) functioning are increasingly in a process of collapse?

You are not alone!

These monthly gatherings offer a friendly space to safely explore and share your thoughts and feelings, to make connections and hear from others, and to feel part of a community that understands how you feel. Together we can inquire into what it might mean for our lives, communities and work.

We will decide together how to use the time - can be informal chat and or facilitated activities by members of the group:

Explore a particular topic

Discuss a book, article or podcast

Use a particular tool to structure our conversation

Test an idea - use the group as a sounding board

Get perspectives on an issue or dilemma you are facing

Develop activity or projects together

We will pay particular attention to the inner dimensions - the emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects at both individual and collective levels, as well as the outer dimensions - the practical measures to reduce harm and adapt to the impacts of systems in breakdown. Both are needed.

Donation to contribute to room hire (suggested donation (£3 - £7). You can bring your own drinks and snacks.

Venue details:

The Library is on the ground floor and fully accessible.

Please note we will not debate whether ecological and societal collapse or indeed climate change and mass extinction of species is happening or not. These gatherings proceed from the basis of accepting these are realities, and will be an emotionally involved and experiential event. You are welcome to participate as much as feels right for you, and in line with ground rules that we will collectively agree at the start.
