The Edinburgh Visitor Levy Team is delivering a number of in-person and online events for accommodation providers, in partnership with ETAG

The Edinburgh Visitor Levy Team invite accommodation providers to join an information event about the Edinburgh Visitor Levy.

By the end of each session accommodation providers will have a greater insight on how to register, navigate and submit a return on the Edinburgh Visitor Levy portal, visitorlevy.scot.

The sessions will cover:

- Introduction to the Edinburgh Visitor Levy

- How the Edinburgh Visitor Levy proceeds will be invested

- How to register for visitorlevy.scot

- How to submit a return on visitorlevy.scot

- Record Keeping

- Q&A

Key facts on the levy:

· The levy is a 5% charge on the accommodation-only cost of the paid, overnight accommodation.

· The scheme was formally agreed in January 2025 and has applied to all advance bookings made since 1 October 2025 for stays taking place on or after 24 July 2026. Stays on or after 24 July 2026 which were booked and paid for (in part or full) before 1 October 2025 are not subject to the levy.

· Accommodation providers are liable to collect the levy, with the first payments (covering stays from 24 July – 30 September) due to the Council from 1 October – 13 November 2026.

· Accommodation providers can sign up now to visitorlevy.scot, where they will remit and pay the levy.

· Detailed information on the levy can be found on the Council’s website at edinburgh.gov.uk/visitorlevy.
