About This Event

God of Carnage will be performed at Summerhall on 4 December 2026. The play, written by Yasmina Reza, explores the chaotic interactions between two sets of parents who meet to discuss their children's altercation. As the meeting unfolds, tensions rise and civility deteriorates, revealing deeper issues among the adults. The production is directed by Adam Butler and won the Tony Award for Best Play in 2009.

EAS Performs brings GOD OF CARNAGE to the stage in December. What happens when two sets of parents meet up to deal with the unruly behaviour of their children? Boys will be boys, but the adults are worse – much worse. A playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge, and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their principles in tatters. Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play. Written by Yasmina Reza. Directed by Adam Butler.
