The Lounge Society were always wild blur of barely contained fury. Only 18 when their Dan Carey (Wet Leg, Fontaines DC) produced debut LP Tired of Liberty came out in 2022 they were an incendiary live band championed by the likes of Lauren Laverne among others. Now guitarist and co-writer Herbie May is stepping out on his own. His solo songs are raw, and emotionally switched on. Think Courtney Barnett or Kurt Vile, think Lou Reed scrapping with Orange Juice... His two well regarded double A side solo singles Bleeding/Shoelaces and Uphill/Apple released via Red Licorice Records have won him friends and admirers as have his live gigs supporting the likes of Stereolab, The Primitives, House of All, The Subways, Martial Arts and Kelley Stoltz. Radio 6 Music's Chris Hawkins is a fan ('Looks like a young Donovan, sounds like young Blur), as is Radio X's John Kennedy.
