UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. World Heritage Sites are places that UNESCO decides have ‘Outstanding Universal Value to Humanity’. This means they are special, valuable, and unique and belong to all the people of the world no matter where they live. The Primary 4 class at Granton Primary School used Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site as inspiration to create the artworks on display in this exhibition. Working with local artist Stephanie Walker, the children visited the Museum of Edinburgh and learned about why the city has a World Heritage Site. They explored objects in the museum and visited the Old Town World Heritage Site for inspiration, before creating their final artworks back in the classroom. This exhibition was created by the City of Edinburgh Council in partnership with Edinburgh World Heritage and Granton Primary School to raise awareness and appreciation of the World Heritage Site.
